United Way proudly works in many communities in Lee County. Our community campaigns provide an opportunity for residents to give of their time and talents and to connect with others who share the same passion to improve the lives of those around us.
The Sanibel Captiva Community raised over $706,162! Thank you for helping the 2023-2024 United Way Campaign meet our goal by reaching $11 Million! Your generous contributions during these unprecedented times enabled us to provide the most impactful resources and services to our community in need.
Since Sanibel Captiva’s first United Way Campaign in 2001 the community has raised over $2.6 million! We are so grateful for your continuing support of our local United Way.
All money raised in the United Way Campaign stays in the local community to help support the local human service network. United Way partner agencies and initiatives such as the Alvin A. Dubin Alzheimer’s Resource Center, Child Care of Southwest Florida, The Salvation Army, Bonita Springs Assistance, Lighthouse of Southwest Florida, Mission United, and United Way 211, serve a diverse range of needs in our community. These needs include nurturing children and youth, strengthening families, helping the elderly and disabled live independently, and empowering communities by bringing health and human services to neighborhoods.
In addition to supporting over 260 programs and special initiatives in 2023-2024, United Way had the following impact on our community:
- $18.89 million in items distributed to those in need through United Way Gifts in Kind.
- $1.9 million in supplies distributed to students in need via the United Way School Resource Center.
- 487,235 client services delivered through United Way Resiliency Hubs, formerly United Way Houses.
- $11.5 million impact on our communities through the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Program.
- $9.2 million in donated care provided through the United Way WeCare Program.
- 1,437 families enrolled in ReUnite program.
A special thank you to the Sanibel Captiva Campaign Committee for working tirelessly to exceed their goal:
