WeCare

Providing Medical Care for the Uninsured

The United Way WeCare program connects qualifying individuals with medical services free of charge through a large network of volunteer providers including Lee Health and numerous physician corporate entities. In 2023, over $9 MILLION in essential medical care was provided free of charge. The program is contracted through the Florida Department of Health Voluntary Health Care Provider Program (VHCPP).

Applicants must be referred to the program by a provider, hospital, or specialist and have a severe medical condition that cannot be managed by a primary care provider.  Applicants must qualify as 200% under the federal poverty limit, have no health insurance, and must be a Lee or Hendry County resident. Other eligibility requirements may apply.
