Community Campaigns

Communities raise record amount for
2022-2023 Campaign Season

United Way proudly works in many communities in Lee County. Our community campaigns run two different types of campaigns. The first is a campaign for the residents. Many of the residents in “gated” communities have been or currently are United Way Volunteers.

They have been past board members, leaders in their former companies, and lifelong donors. We realized that these residents did not have the opportunity to give to United Way once they left the workplace. That is how our Residential Community Campaigns started.

A small group of residents usually form a committee, send letters requesting donations, and hold some sort of awareness event like a "Kick Off Reception" at the beginning of the campaign or a "Thank You Reception" at the end of the campaign. United Way provides all of the support for the campaign such as printing, postage, and mailing of the letters.

The second type of campaign is one that we run with the employees of the Club and the Association. A workplace campaign allows employees the chance to learn about United Way and United Way Programs that could help them or someone they know who needs help.

Employees are also given the opportunity to donate through payroll deduction. Payroll deduction is a simple and painless way to give. By contributing a few dollars a paycheck, people are able to make a significant donation over a year’s time.

The residents usually respond well to doing the residential campaign along with the workplace campaign. The residents know that United Way offers services that could benefit the employees and they feel like it is a win-win situation.

If you'd like to start a community campaign, please call (239) 433-2000.
