Year End Giving

There are just a few days left in the year and you may be thinking about your year end charitable giving. Charitable giving can be enhanced using income tax deductions, so it can be more effective when included as part of year-end tax planning. Here are a few dates and ways to give that may be helpful. We always suggest you speak with your financial adviser to make the best decision for your charitable giving.
Gift checks mailed via U.S. Postal Service with postmark and check date on or before December 31, 2018 will be counted for 2018 regardless of when they are received at United Way. Our mailing address:
United Way
7273 Concourse Drive
Fort Myers, FL 33908
Online donations deadline is 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time) Monday, December 31st. at https://www.unitedwaylee.org/donate/
Also, be sure you have taken your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) from your IRA. In short, you can make a direct tax-free distribution from your IRA if you’re age 70 1/2 or older to an eligible charity without paying Federal Income Tax on the distribution. Contact your financial adviser to find out what is best for you!
