F.I.S.H. of Sanibel-Captiva:
The Mission of F.I.S.H. is to enrich the lives of all people in Sanibel and Captiva Islands by neighbors helping neighbors with social services, education, and assistance.
Testimonial: Hurricane Ian devastated the Sanibel and Captiva Islands in 2022, destroying houses, vehicles, appliances, furniture, and personal treasures. F.I.S.H. partnered with United Way Gifts-in-Kind program and stepped in to help families rebuild homes and restore hope. One family shared, “We would like to thank all of you, Ian took all of our appliances and destroyed our furniture beyond repair. F.I.S.H. provided drywall, household items, and decorations. It brings a smile to my face everyday.”
STRENGTHENING FAMILIES
Valerie’s House
The Mission of Valerie’s House is to help children and families work through the loss of a loved one together and go on to live fulfilling lives. The vision is that no child will grieve alone.
Testimonial: After the loss of his wife, Mr. Wells and his two young sons’ world was changed forever. At Valerie’s House, the boys found a safe place where they felt understood and less alone, and Mr. Wells found solace and comfort within his dad’s group. Together, the family learned to manage their grief and celebrate the memories of their loved one.
Meeting Critical Needs
LARC
The Mission of LARC is to empower and support individuals with disabilities and their families to achieve their full potential.
Testimonial: Julien participated in “Career Camp” with a goal of gaining meaningful employment in the community. Throughout the program, he worked with the counselors to develop hands-on skills, created a cover letter and resume, and graduated with confidence and purpose. In 2023, he accepted a job offer at his local Publix! With the help of this program, he has grown into an independent, capable, and confident individual in the workplace.
Nurturing Children and Youth
Pace Center for Girls
The Mission of Pace is to provide girls and young women an opportunity for a better future through education, counseling, training and advocacy.
Testimonial: Since enrolling at Pace in 2022, Rosayah says, "I have become a better version of myself. I remember when I couldn't stay in school for a whole day. Pace has helped me learn new coping skills. I have real friends who care and genuinely enjoy being around me." Redlands Christian Migrants Association (RCMA)
The Mission of RCMA is to open doors to opportunities through quality childcare and education from crib to high school and beyond.
